As I was in Chelsea, I checked out the currrent exhibit at Jonathan LeVine. Despite my strong prejudice against this type of pop surrealism, I was somewhat intrigued by Erik Mark Sandberg's eerie portraits that -- according to the press release -- focus "on the relationship between projected idealized archetypes and their unattainable emulation." Now -- that I can dig!

The Perils of It All
