I passed by Denise Carbonell's former spot on Stanton Street last week and came upon this exhibit in what is now the NY Studio Gallery. I was mesmerized by everything about it -- from its title, "Can't Live the Commonest Way On Six Bits a Day" to its subdued palette. 'so glad to discover Charlotta Janssen's images inspired by American photographs of poor and working-class Americans captured around the time of the Great Depression.

East Village Postal Sticker Art
While walking through the East Village yesterday, I discovered some stickers I hadn't seen anywhere else in town. In addition to the usual suspects such as Faust and Jesus Saves, there were stickers such as "Full Bleed" (center) that were new to me. My son, Dani, had told me that there are some hot stickers on St. Marks Place. He's right.
